This past Saturday (September 23, 2023), a few of our own hopped on their bikes for an 88-mile ride across Oregon to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Bike MS. POA cyclists with sore legs today include President Doug Pitassi, VP Dino Andereggen, Nick Duyn, Klesti Brameta & Michael Martinoff. Coaches Mike Rutlidge & David Root, team members of the POA cycling team, assisted our riders along the way with helpful advice such as handlebar placement, pace & nutrition.

Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the world. The generous community of cyclists has raised $1.4 billion to fund the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s mission to cure MS while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives.

POA’s Racing Team is made up of nearly 50 cyclists, half of which are Professional-Elite level racers. This group of men and women has been pivotal in re-energizing the racing scene since the COVID-19 pandemic by hosting races that draw cyclists from Canada, Idaho, California and further. The Paper Town Road Race in Longview, WA, and two criterium style races in Vancouver, WA, and Portland, OR, one of which served as the Regional Championship for USA, each brought over 500 participants.

Pacific Office Automation has been sponsoring the Portland-based cycling team for several years as their involvement allows the racers the opportunity to donate their proceeds from these races back to the local community. The Police Activities League, East Portland Youth Cycling and the Dialed Junior Cycling team were all beneficiaries of events hosted by the POA Racing Team this year.

Philanthropic giving is a fundamental element of POA’s culture. Pacific Office Automation values its employees, and that means supporting their communities and families. Bike MS was a wonderful opportunity for a group of like-minded individuals to join the community of cyclists peddling toward a cure.
