The holiday season is a time of rejuvenation and relaxation with loved ones, but planning for time away from work and returning from a vacation can feel daunting. We’ve put together some tried-and-true ways to minimize that dreaded post-vacation stress and ease back into your routine, no matter what time of year.

1. Plan Ahead

In the weeks leading up to a vacation, every little bit of planning can help both you and your team take care of what needs to be done. A proactive approach to personal workflow can make a big difference in the days after your return. Identify teammates that will cover for you while you’re out. If you’re a manager, enable employees for success by creating a memo of tasks to be done and naming coworkers to fill in.

2. Ease into Your Routine

The thought of returning to hundreds of emails and piles of work can quickly turn your mood sour when you return from a rejuvenating time off. To combat the post-vacation blues, make an effort to plan fun activities to keep yourself busy when you come back.
